Ingredients
1/3 cup cane sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp water
1/2 Tbsp corn syrup
1/2 cup evaporated skim milk
1 tsp unsalted butter
For a variety of flavors, 1 tablespoon of your favorite liqueur, such as Calvados, during the cooking process, will enhance your sauce.
Instructions
Combine sugar, water and corn syrup in medium saucepan. Simmer over low heat until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Continue to cook until sugar is dark in color.
Slowly add milk and butter and whisk briskly with wire whip until sauce is smooth.
