Culinary Instructor II
Laura creates the Canyon Ranch Hands-On Cooking curriculum. She is passionate about sharing her love for cooking and food with our guests and teaching them how to create delicious recipes. Her specialties include pastries, desserts, and healthy plant-based cuisine.
Before finding her way to Canyon Ranch Tucson, Laura worked for 14 years in fine- dining restaurants, with an influence on resort- style dining. She has held roles as a sous chef in upscale vegetarian and vegan restaurants, as well as a pastry chef. Creating new recipes with exotic and local ingredients is a thrill for her.
Laura leads recipe development for Dinner and Learn events in the Canyon Ranch Demonstration Kitchen. If you want to learn how to bake the perfect croissant, crème brulee, or vegan lasagna, Laura is the perfect guide for you. She is proficient in numerous cooking techniques and cuisines.
A creative soul who loves to hike, travel, and forage for edible and medicinal plants, Laura has varied interests. She likes to explore outdoors with her wife and miniature-Dashcund Apple.
Many of their adventures are inspired via geocaching and randonauting. Not familiar? Geocaching requires participants to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) mobile device to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches,” at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. And Randonauting is the act of generating random numbers and converting them into earth coordinates participants agree to visit. Her words to live by? “If it doesn't challenge you, it won’t change you.”
