Physician, Weight Loss Program Leader & Director of Sleep Medicine, Canyon Ranch in Tucson
Dr. Dedhia (who prefers to be called by his first name, Param) came to Canyon Ranch from Johns Hopkins. He served as a hospital based internist at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and as assistant director at both the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center and the Johns Hopkins Geriatric Education Center.
Born and raised in Michigan, Param received his medical degree from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine where he cultivated his passion for internal medicine along with nutrition and exercise science. Param is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine and Obesity Medicine and is fellowship trained in Geriatric Medicine and Integrative Medicine.
At Johns Hopkins, his internship, residency and fellowship spanned the fields of Internal Medicine to Gerontology. Following the mentorship he received from noted doctors and investigators, his faculty work and research was focused on applying the best of science and tradition to the daily lives of his patients. Yearning to take this further, he sought training in Mind-Body Medicine under Jim Gordon, MD and completed the only fellowship available at the time in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona founded by Andrew Weil, MD. These experiences inspired Param to honor people not only physically but also mentally, emotionally and spiritually. His practice of medicine connects his internal medicine training to his passion for optimal nutrition, exercise, sleep and mindfulness at every stage in our lives. Moreover, with his family background from India, Param has always had a special connection between western and eastern perspectives, and thus a unique appreciation to bridging modern and traditional approaches.
In coming to Canyon Ranch in Tucson, he championed the re-launch of the Weight Loss Program at the Life Enhancement Center and actively serves as Director of Sleep Medicine. He specializes in internal medicine, executive health, preventive cardiology, longevity, mind-body medicine, integrative medicine, weight loss and sleep.
Param is a sought after medical doctor and lecturer who continues to be curious of the world that he lives in. He has studied abroad in Spain and Greece, and has traveled to India, Colombia, Turkey, Italy, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa in recent years. He enjoys any book by Malcolm Gladwell and lives by the saying: “Know Thyself.” He is nourished by friends and family, rejuvenated by music and dance and inspired by kindness and wit.
