WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT CANYON RANCH PHILOSOPHY FOR YOU IN YOUR BUSY LIFE, AND HOW DO YOU BUILD IT INTO YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES?
One of the most important philosophies I have learned from Canyon Ranch is that I don’t need to go to extreme measures to be healthy, both physically and emotionally. I don’t spend hours in the gym and I don’t have an overly restricted diet. My exercises and diet are healthy but it doesn’t get in the way of my busy life. It is simply a part of my day.
AT CANYON RANCH, WE VALUE SELF-CARE AND HELP TO CREATE A BLUEPRINT FOR INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE THEIR BEST LIVES. HOW DO YOU TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF AND UNPLUG FROM WORK?
I like to write. In my spare time, I love to go to coffee houses and work on writing my books. While there, I often meet interesting people that I can have great conversations with, which is also something I enjoy.
HOW DOES CANYON RANCH FRAME YOUR LIFE?
As a physician, one of the most important things I can do is to be a healthy role model for my patients. I start every day by getting up in the morning and immediately putting on my workout outfit (I leave one on the floor beside my bed). It gives me no time to think twice about exercising. I then walk out my door and run or go for a bike ride for 30 to 60 minutes. When I return home, I have a healthy breakfast before I’m and ready for my day.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A FOUNDATION OF WELLNESS IN A HIGH-STRESS CAREER?
I want my mind and body to be running as efficiently as possible so I can take on the struggles of the day. Living a healthy lifestyle means I don’t have the added burden of health issues on my mind.
