Mindfulness in Law Retreat September 15 – 17, 2017
Join fellow legal professionals at Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Lenox, Massachusetts, for the third annual Mindfulness in Law retreat – featuring Alan S. Gold, Senior U.S. District Court judge for the Southern District of Florida; Professor Scott Rogers, MS, JD, director of the Institute for Mindfulness Studies, and founder and director of the Mindfulness in Law Program at the University of Miami School of Law; and cognitive neuroscientist Amishi Jha, PhD, associate professor of psychology and director of contemplative neuroscience, mindfulness research and practice initiative at the University of Miami.
The three-day program, consisting of a total of 10.5 hours of training and group discussion, will introduce you to mindfulness and the science of mindfulness; cognitive, emotional and physical health benefits associated with practicing mindfulness; and the ways that mindfulness insights and exercises can play a meaningful role and be integrated in your life, professionally and personally.
Topics will include:
- The nature of the wandering mind, and of concentration and mindfulness practices,
- Mindfulness as a means of stress reduction, and working effectively with agitated emotions, ambiguous and challenging situations, and difficult people/interactions,
- The connection between mindfulness and ethical judgment and decision-making.
The training is based on Jurisight®, a mindfulness training program developed for legal professionals that has formed the basis for CLE programs since 2007, drawing on the language of the law to introduce mindfulness concepts and exercises and explore them in the context of legal practice.
