Tim Murray
Senior Outdoor Sports Guide

Tim loves to share the wonder of the Santa Cruz Mountains and is committed to helping our guests find interactive ways to explore the redwood forest. Through a range of guided activities, Tim immerses guests in the beauty of nature — including bird watching, fault line exploration, or Shin Rin Yoku (forest bathing). He also guides artist residency tours, as well as a wide variety of hikes to explore the coast, chaparral grasslands, and the mixed evergreen forests of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Before finding his way to Canyon Ranch Woodside when it opened in 2019, Tim was a sports guide at Canyon Ranch Lenox for nearly four years. He is most proud of championing the start of Canyon Ranch’s outdoor sports program. At the Berkshires location, Tim guided guests on outside excursions including mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, paddle board, ropes course, zipline, and archery.
To say Tim is an outdoor enthusiast and nature expert is an understatement. He has trained with a California naturalist to learn the deep intricacies of the flora and fauna of the various ecosystems amongst the Bay Area. Tim has also scouted and mapped more than 20 hikes and scheduled and trained 10 Massachusetts task force guides. But rest assured, you don’t have to be an experienced woodsman to benefit from Tim’s extensive knowledge and approachable style, as he creates tailored experiences for all levels and ages.
When not at the Ranch, Tim likes to snap pictures using a Polaroid instant camera. He also enjoys long board skating, playing video games, and exploring California. He is always up for a pick-up basketball game, and of course, for taking a hike.
