Ingredients
2 Tbsp canola oil
1 Tbsp minced fresh garlic
Pinch chili flakes
Pinch five spice powder
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 tsp sea salt
2 Tbsp low-sodium tamari sauce
5 Tbsp white vinegar
3 Tbsp water
⅓ cup canned black beans
Instructions
- In a medium sauté pan, combine oil, garlic, chili and five-spice powder. Sauté over medium heat until garlic turns golden brown. Add sugar and cook over low heat until sugar caramelizes.
- Add remaining ingredients and cook until thick, about 20 to 30 minutes over low heat. Cool. Transfer to blender container and puree until smooth.
