Life Enhancement Program^® Approved For Continuing Education Hours For Nurses

TUCSON, AZ - March 1, 2001 - The American Holistic Nurses' Association has approved Canyon Ranch Health Resort's Life Enhancement Program^® for Continuing Education. Nurses who participate in Canyon Ranch's Life Enhancement Program^® can earn up to 27 contact hours.

This educational activity has been approved by the American Holistic Nurses' Association which is accredited as an Approver of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

Canyon Ranch's Life Enhancement Program^® is a week-long experiential course that focuses on self-management for optimal health. Offered most weeks throughout the year, this group program is ideal for anyone who wants to get on a healthier track, address medical concerns, or pursue personal goals such as smoking cessation, weight management, or stress reduction. The emphasis is on understanding the relationship between lifestyle choices and wellness.

Unlike most Continuing Education courses, which are for nurses only, participants will be part of the regular Life Enhancement Program^® group. In addition to participating in regularly-scheduled classes, fitness activities, healthy living workshops and group discussions, nurses will meet with Canyon Ranch professional staff members for discussions on holistic nursing practices, such as Healing Touch, Holistic Nursing, Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils and Interactive Guided Imagery.

Nurses will also learn to identify patients who are ready for change and explore techniques for helping them; determine appropriate resources for referrals and discover how preventive and holistic medicine can bring greater satisfaction as patients gain an understanding of the importance of self-care.

In 1994, the University of Arizona College of Medicine approved Canyon Ranch's Life Enhancement Program^® for Continuing Medical Education for physicians. Canyon Ranch is approved for 27 credit hours in Category 1 of the Physicians Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. The University of Arizona College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
