Teen Services: Canyon Ranch welcomes guests ages 14-17 when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please note that the accompanying parent or guardian must sign a consent form and book all services for guests under 18, and an adult must be present for most services. Ask your Program Advisor for details.

Aqua Conditioning Workout

Work with an aquatic instructor to start or continue water workouts. Learn exercises to improve your flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and strength. You’ll develop a water workout you can use at home.

  • $120 for 50 minutes
Comprehensive Exercise Assessment
Get the type of evaluation and advice that professional athletes enjoy with this state-of-the-art two-part service.
Part I – Begin with an extensive assessment of your fitness. Tests include a body composition analysis, flexibility testing, upper- and lower-body strength assessment, and a submaximal treadmill test to estimate aerobic capacity and determine optimal target heart-rate training zone.
Part II – An exercise physiologist reviews your test results with you. Together you’ll develop an exercise prescription for improving your fitness in areas important to you. If you are staying for a few days or live at Canyon Ranch, an optional enhancement is to have your exercise prescription built into the Wellness Key System. 
Note: We recommend that you book this service prior to arrival. This service is for apparently healthy people with no major risk factors for vascular or heart disease. Men over 45 and women over 55 need to speak with a Program Advisor about American College of Sports Medicine guidelines for taking this test. You may need to take a Cardiac Stress Test first with a physician. If you are an experienced exerciser or competitive athlete, you may want to explore ways to improve your peak performance by having a Metabolic Exercise Assessment.

Comprehensive Exercise Assessment Follow-up

Want to see how you’re doing? Here’s an opportunity to reassess your fitness, monitor changes in response to your exercise program and update your exercise prescription. We conduct the same tests used in the Comprehensive Exercise Assessment and compare the results with your prior assessment. If you are staying for a few days or live at Canyon Ranch, an optional enhancement is to have your exercise prescription built into the Wellness Key System. 

Note: Recommended annually or semi-annually.

Dance Lesson

Learn and enhance your dance skills in Latin dance, ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, or belly-dancing. Your instructor leads you through technique, progressions and choreography. Emerge a better dancer – and have a ball.

Healthy Flexibility

Do you need help stretching your tight muscles? An exercise physiologist identifies your tight areas and shows you how to isolate and lengthen them. Take home an effective, customized stretching program.

Experience Kinesis,® a movement system that allows you to rediscover harmony between mind and body. The revolutionary Kinesis equipment is constructed with unique cables, grips and weight stacks that allow movements to be easy, natural and unrestricted. This technology enables you to move three-dimensionally to perform more than 500 natural, free-flowing motions. Kinesis trains muscular strength and endurance; it also improves balance, stability and flexibility. (Can be booked as a private training session or as a group activity for up to four people.)

Mind-Body Private Training

Would you like to establish a mind/body practice or enhance your current practice? Explore any of the following one-on-one or with up to five friends in a private class.

Meditation – A mind/body trainer teaches and leads you through techniques to develop your ability to let go and be in the moment.

Qi Gong – This gentle Chinese mind/body practice integrates physical movements, coordinated breathing, and meditation. A great tool for daily life.
Yoga – A skilled yoga teacher corrects or enhances your poses and provides tips on proper alignment, breathing and intention.

Personal Training
Specialized fitness services take your training beyond weight machines. Our highly qualified and experienced staff of certified fitness instructors bring you a varied array of formats to reach the goals you are seeking. From athletic skill training to weight training, our fitness team has the knowledge to safely and effectively assist you in reaching your fitness goals. Work with any of our trainers to refine a particular skill or develop a program to take your wellness in a new direction or to the next level.

This famous mental and physical conditioning system uses specially designed equipment to strengthen and stretch the whole physique. It reshapes and aligns, builds true core strength, increases flexibility, improves posture and coordination, and promotes a healthy, focused mind. Everyone from athletes to individuals with chronic pain or limitations can benefit from expert instruction in Pilates.

Rx For Exercise
Whether you’re looking to begin a regular exercise program or you’re already active and want to increase fitness, strength or endurance, our experts can help. An exercise physiologist designs a take-home program based on your goals, interests, time, physical limitations and facilities available. We’ll help you add fun and variety to your fitness regimen.

Specialized Personal Training
Whether you’re looking to improve your skills or to overcome the intimidation of the movement studio, private lessons in any of the activities on the group class schedule are available with our highly skilled staff. Our fitness instructors are specialists in their formats and are ready to help you reach your goals in the activities that most interest you. We can also customize an aerobic, weight training or flexibility program that helps you meet your fitness goal.

Target Heart-Rate Determination

Forget those charts in magazines – get an accurate, personalized determination of your target heart rate and be sure that you’re making the most efficient use of your workout time. An exercise physiologist takes you through a submaximal exercise test that determines your target heart-rate zone and, if you desire, target zones for interval training. The physiologist then provides you with an assessment, advice and specific recommendations for achieving your goals.
