Sam comes to the Canyon Ranch Fitness & Movement team after working two years with the Philadelphia 76ers as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Sport Scientist. Previously, he was a graduate assistant at Michigan State University with the Men's and Women's basketball teams — assisting in all aspects of strength and conditioning and sport science. While at MSU, he also taught 100-200 level wellness and anatomy classes. An athlete and a scholar, Sam has published research in the areas of motorsport and equine physiology.

Sam specializes in strength training and aerobic conditioning, sport science testing and interpretation, and individualized exercise program design.

Rest assured, you don’t have to be a college or professional basketball player to benefit from Sam’s experience as a performance scientist. Canyon Ranch resort guests benefit from his personalized approach as he creates tailored programs to improve their wellness and fitness goals — empowering them to achieve their goals, quality of life, and athletic performance. His positive manner motivates guests not to give up, stick to principles, and to keep moving forward.

When not at the Ranch, Sam loves exploring Tucson by going on hikes and finding new eateries with his wife and their trusty golden retriever, Ellie. He loves to play golf and hopes to one day play a round in all fifty states. His other interests include playing and coaching soccer and admits to being an enthusiastic soccer, basketball and motorsport fan.
